»Nose up when translating!”« the famous Dostoyevsky translator Swetlana Geier once said. This is what I do appropriate in my scientific translations too. That’s why I intentionally abstain from using a translation software in my work.
On my own or in collaboration with other professionals I have translated a number of mathematics and science textbooks and non-fiction books. Examples include the science textbook »Einführung in die Physik des 20. Jahrhunderts« published by Pearson Education and the astronomy non-fiction book »Hubble – Das Universum im Visier« published by Wiley VCH. Most often, I translate from English into German. Depending on the text type and the number of words, I also translate from French into German or from German into English.

Scientific Translations in Mathematics, Computer Science and the Sciences
I have specialized in the translation of texts in mathematics, computer science and the sciences making use of my education as a physicist. In most cases, I’m already familiar with the terminology used in physics, mathematics, computer science and chemistry.
Investigating the specialist terminology, using appropriate scientific literature and communicating with other professionals is just as natural to me as dealing thoroughly with grammar, spelling and style.
Using my experience as a LaTeX consultant and instructor, I can typeset the texts in LaTeX (as is common practice in mathematics and the sciences). I can also provide styles and class files or collaborate with other publishing companies.
